Climate

Anchorage’s average daytime high in September is 55°F (13°C) and average lows are around 41°F (5°C). Since this conference will take place during the September equinox, don’t expect the unusually long or short days that Alaska can be famous for other times of year.

What to Wear

The weather in Anchorage is perfect for warm casual wear. On an Alaskan September day, the key to comfort is wearing layers of clothing that you can add or remove as needed. Proper clothing for the weather might include a long sleeved shirt, jeans/slacks, windbreaker or jacket, sweater or vest. September can be quite damp, so bring a rain jacket. While in sessions at the Conference, recommended dress code is business casual.

If taking advantage of the surrounding area’s many outdoor activities, it is a good idea to bring heavier layers or heavier jacket and comfortable walking shoes to make your adventures more enjoyable. With all of this you will be prepared for any Alaskan outing. Alaska’s informality is perfect for visitors, as casual wear is welcome virtually everywhere. The Hilton Anchorage Hotel has an indoor pool and fitness room, so guests staying there should also bring a swim suit and workout clothes as well if planning to use those amenities.

A Photographer’s Dream

With its nearby mountains and local wildlife, Anchorage and the surrounding landscape offer numerous photo opportunities. Don’t get caught without a camera!
